Peru Amazonas Finca Timbuyacu Washed Filter

The name “Timbuyacu” comes from a nearby spring that appears to boil due to its intensity—a place tied to Alfonso’s family history. Finca Timbuyacu is run by Alfonso Tejada Ibérico and Karim Rosario Araoz Grandez, who took over the farm with a mission to produce high-quality coffee while supporting local farmers. Located in the Amazonas region of Peru, the 68-hectare farm sits at 1,620m, with 30 hectares dedicated to coffee cultivation.

In 2010, Alfonso and Karim left their travel business in Lima to focus on coffee, launching the “Nueva Esperanza” project to improve farming conditions in the region. They turned Finca Timbuyacu into a learning hub, where local producers receive training in farm management, post-harvest techniques, and sustainability. Their hands-on approach and commitment to community-driven coffee production make their farm a standout in Peruvian specialty coffee.
