Built in 2016 in Rwanda’s Nyamasheke District, Rugali Washing Station has quickly earned a reputation for producing competition-level coffees. Cherries are meticulously hand-sorted and dried for 30 days on raised beds, ensuring even airflow and sun exposure. The result is a vibrant, fruit-forward espresso with notes of dried fruits, citrus, and pineapple — a standout example of what natural Rwandan coffee can be.

Farm or Mill: Rugali Washing Station | Rwanda

Rugali Washing Station was established in April 2016 in Rwanda’s Nyamasheke District. Built with a focus on quality, it quickly became a benchmark for specialty coffee production in the region. Each season, Rugali processes around 54,000 kg of milled green coffee, using meticulous natural processing methods.

The station’s ideal drying conditions — including strategic sun exposure from 12–3 pm and careful cherry turning over a 30-day period — ensure clean, vibrant flavor profiles. Rugali has earned international recognition, with its coffees featured in competitions and helping establish Nyamasheke as a key region for high-quality Rwandan coffee.
